OVERVIEW
This course of scientific English enables students to gain sufficient specific knowledge in order to overcome the barrier of the English language, drawing from international scientific literature, not only for the purposes of professional updating, but also to obtain scientifically valid information to develop evidence-based practice.
AIMS AND CONTENT
LEARNING OUTCOMES
Acquire a good knowledge of the English grammar (Level B2) and understanding of the written text of a scientific paper.

- Provide students with a general understanding of medical-scientific terminology.
- Understand the particular meaning of medical-scientific terms.
- Help students acquire the ability to correctly understand the contents of a scientific article.
- Develop in students the ability to gain updated information by reading and understanding international scientific literature in English.
PREREQUISITES
Students must already have a basic understanding of the English language (Level B1) in terms of listening and reading comprehension, and writing.
TEACHING METHODS
Online interactive lessons, followed by a multiple choice test.

EXAMS
EXAM DESCRIPTION
The exam is held online in "Aula CLAT". Students have to select the correct answer to a set of 20 questions on English grammar and a scientific paper. The questions are randomly selected by the computerized system so that students will have a different set of questions. Correct answers are equal to 1 point, partly correct answer are equal to 0.5 points. In order to pass the exam, students have to obtain at least 16 points out of a total of 20 points.
ASSESSMENT METHODS
The questions of the test have been developed to assess the students’ knowledge about English grammar (Level B2), medical-scientific terminology, and the correct comprehension of an English scientific paper.
